Ribbon Bows: Bunny Chic: Fifi Lapin

Bunny Chic: Fifi Lapin

Browsing the web after spending a long day of working retail at possibly the slowest time of year disregarding post Christmas chaos, my brain was in need of refreshments. Luckily, a half gallon of Chocolate Chip cookie dough sat in my fridge and lack of self control allowed me to unwind from my long day with the heating of the oven, throwing my cupcake apron on and filling my home...and stomach... with the sweet aroma of homemade cookies (I did use my hands to scoop out the pre-made dough :]).
Enjoying my cookies and soy milk, the pleasant sounds of the newly released Death Cab for Cutie album, and stumbling through BlogSpot something sweeter than the chocolate morsals melting atop my taste buds appeared: Fifi Lapin's blog. This fashion forward bunny lets readers into her world of style by sketching  illustrations (shown above) of designer looks from collections such as Chris Benz,  Shipley & Halmos, and others. I spent hours falling in love with the sweet hare's tales of fashion dreams, styling advice, and adventures as she hops her way through life. Not to mention these adorable t-shirts designed with sketches of Mrs. Lapin in her luxe looks, which I have feeling will be shortly filling the vacant spaces of my closet since donating to Plato's.

Ballet Beauty

Ballet Beauty

Today I will be spending this rainy Saturday afternoon watching my beautiful niece dance in her recital. Coming from a 15 year background, a special place in my heart has always held my joy of movement and the effortless spirit of a dancer. Clean lines, whimsical movement, and soft colors come to mind when reflecting on my recent attendance at the Joffrey ballet which inspired me to create the style board. Enjoy xoxo

Commitment

Summer is now in full swing and I have traveled back to the place I've called home for my short 19 year lived life, Michigan. Away from skyscrapers and sounds of morning traffic replacing them now with open spaces of fresh green grass, weeping willow trees, and the occasional song of Robyns in the morning (to think I was so desperate to leave 11 short months ago). The city holds my heart, but a summer home with family and friends I consider worthy of calling soul mates has already proven to be splendid, along with the addition of a fun new fashion sales job for the Summer months!

On a blogging note, I have been MIA from this new blog project and I bid you my deepest apologies. It seems that the idea to start a thoughtful blog wasn't the best thing to do during a month of wrapping up school with exams, massive projects, and spending time with friends I'd be leaving for awhile. Commitment has been something I've always struggled with, from intimacy to life events and plans.... it's safe to say I consider myself a flake. But this year I have made such growths that I believe has changed me for the better, and self improvements have been made, this "flake" one still in the works. To my few readers, I will now be blogging frequently and hopefully you will enjoy! This is a promise to myself, my readers, and my path to self betterment.

Hope to have you come along for the ride! Tata my dears xoxo

Gifts for an Exceptional Woman: Mothers Day

Today is Mother's Day and for the first time in my life I am unable to spend my morning cooking the blueberry muffins and brewing Classic Roast Folger's coffee to wake the women who has brought me so many wonderful things. Though the celebration is postponed to this up coming weekend when Ma and Pa Donaldson come to move their small town girl out of the big Chicago city for the summer, I still feel the need to express the love for my Mom with her here or away.

Thank you for being the strong woman that you are.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to fight for my dreams.
Thank you for sharing your light and vibrant energy and allowing me to reflect it to one's I meet.
And finally,
Thank you for teaching me good taste and high style, and draping me in ribbon bows my whole life.

Breakfast and bed isn't the only special gift I like to share with my Mom and her day of honor, there always needs to be a bit of glamour: here's some ideas to make your Mom feel extra special on her day of honor.

Spring Awakening: Iconic Inspiration

Clouds are floating overhead, skies are tinted in gloomy grey tones, and I am spending another Saturday morning sipping coffee in my Clark Street apartment trying to fight off this Spring gloom. A week into May, I am still highly anticipating overheard gossip of April showers bringing the May flowers that I so desperately crave. If I cannot admire them outside my window and down the breezy streets of the South Loop, I have taken it upon myself to rely on my browser to be inspired by iconic images of Audrey Hepburn bicycling through the streets in her crisp cut Spring apparel. A woman of such class and elegance who can still ride a bike on a lovely day is a grade A in my book, and she has been the apple of my style eye for this Spring wardrobe transition. It is time leave my cocoon of thick winter knits, fur lined jackets, and clunky snow boot and undergo a Spring awakening with clean cuts, floral prints, and top knots adorned in ribbon bows. Heres some items I found inspired by the style icon I admire so, and some I just find oh so sweet.

"Them city girls, with their ribbon bows."

This is a blog of everything I find absolutely lovely. Fashion, food, photography, music, and feminine things like ribbon bows will come to find shelter in these pages. Follow me on my journey of inspiration and thought as I start my journey into the fashion world from the windy streets of Chicago.
